I wouldn't presume to offer a definitive explanation for the Occupy movement's success, but surely the recognition that electoral politics really doesn't accomplish much, given the influence of Big Money, has to be a big part of the reason for that success.
Playing the Democrats' slimy game by their slimy rules is just an invitation to being co-opted. At the very least it risks diluting the message. Occupiers are smarter than that -- I hope.
I really liked the first part of the essay and I read the second part as suggesting they do it for demonstration purposes only. I put a question mark in the title because I wasn't quite sure either.
I really wanted to post something because the old blog has been dormant for extended periods recently.
Yeah, I noticed that. I hope it's because you're busy living a real 3-d life. That's been my problem. But it's good to see one's body of work, ... at least as a diary of one's politics.
