Trying to Invalidate My Own Prophecies: I called the NDP yesterday and said I wanted an election

Just for what it's worth. I'd like our riding association to decide that the harpercon budget should be defeated (unless we successfully make harpercons grovel and produce a semi-social democratic budget that we could have passed with the Liberals).

Let's see. I've been itching to take these monsters down for years.

Any deal that the NDP makes with the CPC can only result in a Pyrrhic victory for the NDP.

Many on the left already blame them for bringing down the Martin Government, resulting in Harper's assention to the throne. While this is unfair as the Liberals defeat at the polls was inevitable, it is out there none the less.

As for their past attempt at influencing the budget, all they were able to get was some thin gruel for the unemployed. While any aid for those hurt by the manufactured crisis was welcome it it was implemented in such a way as to help the fewest people as possible.

What was gained certainly did not come close to balancing out the harm since done to Canadians by the Harperites.

The NDP can not be seen to be propping up the Harper government yet again and they must stop trying to be Liberal lites, get back to their roots and be a true party of the left or risk losing their support to the Liberals.

The NDP has no say in the matter, the Liberals are not planning on voting against the budget so it will pass and there will be no election.

I suggested it as basically asking the impossible of harper. I want him gone.

stageleft,

I'm not even sure about the Liberals caving this time. Seriously.
