Stupid Justin Trudeau Sucks Ass On Venezuela

Liberal, Tory, Same old story!

Linda McQuaig in the Toronto Star provides the analysis:
In terms of foreign policy damage, whatever harm Justin Trudeau did by parading around India in colourful outfits is a nothing-burger compared to the severe hardship he is inflicting on Venezuela.
And yet media commentators have been full-throttle in denouncing the prime minister’s alleged wardrobe malfunction on his recent India trip while being silent – or downright supportive – of Trudeau’s decision last fall to join the Trump administration in imposing sanctions on the struggling South American nation.
Now, why would the Dream Boat do such a thing?
Anyone following the international media coverage would conclude that the Venezuelan government is terribly autocratic and that Western nations, led by the U.S., have stepped in with sanctions out of concern over human rights abuses there.
A closer look suggests a different scenario that puts Western actions in a less laudable light: Washington is waging economic war against a nation that dared to rise up and reject U.S. control over its ample oil reserves.
The Obama administration targeted individual Venezuelans with sanctions, but the Trump administration’s sanctions are much broader, taking punishing aim at the country’s entire economy.
Sadly, Trudeau is backing up the U.S. bully, apparently hoping to win a reprieve from Trump’s arbitrary trade measures – a strategy that seems unfair to Venezuela and also likely futile.
Now here's the thing (and I challenge ANYONE from some whining right-wing Venezuelan ex-pat, to a mewling hypocritical Canadian liberal, to a fire-breathing, shit-head right-wing fuck-face to answer this) ... Venezuela has no "death squads." Colombia has death squads. Peasant leaders and trade union activists are murdered with impunity in that country. Honduras has death squads.

None of this bothers Crazy Crystia Freeland with the Fascist Family. Just the glimmerings of Venezuela's "autocratic tendencies" as it deals with violent, right-wing rebels who once staged a coup in 2002 that was thwarted by pro-Bolivarian demonstrators and [FAR MORE IMPORTANTLY] loyal members of the armed forces. Can you imagine the oligarchic sham "democracy" in the USA, or the oligarchic sham "democracy" of Canada tolerating such a movement? [Remember Dalton McGuinty "temporarily" stealing our Charter rights and freedoms?]

Such squalid behaviour is sadly par for the course in this country. And Canadians remain insufferably smug, ignorant or hypocritical.

Obviously, the big news is Trudeau and Morneau pulling $4.5 billion out of a hat to buy the Kinder-Morgan Pipeline. (Probably to bail-out the Canadian banks that had loaned money to the project.) But I started this post before that.

Might be a “shit head”, but at least I’m not an apologist for death squads

"Evil Brad" ... First of all, what a pompous pseudonym. I take it you imagine yourself dealing out harsh truths to those lacking your penetrating wisdom?

Secondly, ... you told me to google "collectivo." I did. I got a page full of results about tourism in Latin America and that website about handcrafted clay something or others.

I figured that your web searches cause the google algorithm to give you more hits from hysterical right-wing conspiracy sites and I wasn't going to bother to do any more searching after that first page.

So, suddenly that makes me an apologist for death squads?

Fuck you.

I notice, "evil brad," that you, clearly understanding the concepts involved, have NOTHING to say about the documented existence of actual death-squads in Colombia, Honduras, and various other pro-US satraps.

Sweep it all under the rug. That way, like a good little stooge, you can ignore the revolting double standard governing imperialist behaviour towards places like Venezuela, Cuba and Haiti compared with hellholes like 1980s El Salvador, Guatemala, and present-day Honduras and Colombia.

Come back when you've learned what moral consistency is.

Actually, I chose that pseudonym because I thought it sounded kind of sweet. To my ears, at least. But do go on and explain to me the internal workings of my own head.
If you look at your own post, you might notice that you literally challenged all of us mewling, hypocritical fuck-faces to answer your assertion that Venezuela "has no death squads".
I did not see any small print stipulating that we were also to provide the whataboutery, as I was fully expecting you would provide that. Correctly, as it turns out.
And anyway, the "right-wing conspiracy sites" I found (the New York Times and Wikipedia) restricted their commentary about 1980s El Salvador to articles dealing with that particular topic. Odd, I know.

Okay Evil Brad. Okay. Please stop bawling your fucking eyes out. I'll refrain from speculating as to why you chose that stupid pseudonym. I'll even pretend it's your real name.

Yes, mewling, hypocritical fuck-face, I DID assert that Venezuela has no death squads. I don't follow the news closely anymore. Because it's often a bunch of stupid lies and clumsy propaganda and I figure that (thanks to people like you) that civilization is doomed anyway. But I figured that if Venezuela had had death squads, even I would have heard the shrieking about it. Endless, hypocritical bloviating.

You told me to google a word. I did. I found nothing. Do you understand? I typed the word you dared me to type into google and found nothing but tourism websites and clay pottery. That's the honest truth.

I explained that to you.

Next, you insist that I'm engaging in "whataboutery." I first encountered this word in an online argument about "Russia-gate." When one side pointed out the obvious titanic hypocrisy of the USA complaining about alleged Russian meddling in the US-American election, by referring to the extensive, documented, far more intensive meddling in other countries' elections perpetrated by the USA, this was dismissed as "whataboutism."

"Whatabout" appears to be the slur invented by mewling, hypocritical, neo-liberal fuck-faces when their hypocrisy is pointed out to them. Eg. "I will continue to hypocritically shriek and call for sanctions about this subject despite your pointing out that we have done far worse than the government we're condemning! We call the shots and we will simply brazenly push through any and all arguments that show us to be engaged in the same sickening behaviour that we have pursued for decades."

"And anyway, the "right-wing conspiracy sites" I found (the New York Times and Wikipedia) restricted their commentary about 1980s El Salvador to articles dealing with that particular topic. Odd, I know."

I have no idea what you're trying to say here. 1) I told you that given the fact that the entire first page of google hits for "collectivo" turned up nothing relevant, that I assumed you got different search results than I did. 2) I'm aware that you gave me links to the NYT and Wikipedia. (Although the former is far from being an objective source on Venezuela, and has long proven itself to be an unreliable source when reporting on countries targeted by Washington and the latter has [sadly] started to prove itself as equally unreliable on a growing number of similar topics.) Did they comment on 1980s El Salvador in their recent articles about Venezuela? If they did, that would be refreshing.

Hmmm. This is exactly the sort of response I get from Trump supporters too...
