Personal Scale
The recent success of the anti-DMCA initiative, in which proposed copyright legislation that would have made even library use of "content" subject to user fees in perpetuity has evidently been delayed, perhaps indefinitely, prompts me to suggest one tiny strategic theory: That politicians are still human individuals who respond to personal experiences as much as to abstract intellectual and ideological positions. Being deluged with mail and phone-calls can be an intimidating experience I gather. It's part of the secret of why Amnesty International's letter campaigns sometimes save lives.
