There Was NO EXCUSE For Israel's Attack on Aid Flotilla

In the comments section of a news story reporting the Israeli attack on the aid flotilla trying to break the illegal blockade of the Gaza Strip, some anti-Arab racists posted links to YouTube videos showing the activists on board the ship Mavi Marara attacking the Israeli commandos as they drop down to the ship from helicopters.

Boo-fucking-hoo.

Survivors of the Israeli attack are accusing the Israelis of opening fire first, but the activists would have been justified for their actions anyway. Because the IDF has a history of cowardly and brutal attacks on innocent men, women, and children. Not even the most dogmatic advocate of non-violence can deny that if those people had passively allowed themselves to be boarded the results might well have been their being handcuffed, incarcerated, and tortured.

When you spend decades torturing innocent men, women, and children, people stop trusting your benevolent intentions.

The Israeli government is insisting that they had offered to house the activists in "air-conditioned tents" if they'd turned away from Gaza and turned their aid package over to the Israeli government which would distribute it for them. Besides the fact that the whole point of the exercise was to challenge Israel's illegal blockade, there was no reason to trust the Israeli government's word because they're shameless serial liars and thieves.

They steal land, they torture, they attack other countries and they lie all the damned time.

So, when a fleet of Israeli military helicopters appears above you, and armed Israeli commandos begin to descend from them on ropes, when these soldiers serve a military that brutally abuses innocent men, women, and children, what do you expect sane people to do?

The Israelis confiscated all the activists' recording devices, no doubt because the lying, cowardly fucks will be shown to have been the aggressor in this instance if the world were allowed to see them.

They have lost all right to be trusted.

Paul Craig:

Americans will never hear from the US media that Turkey’s prime minister Erdogan declared that the aid ships were carefully inspected before departure from Turkey and that there were no terrorists or arms aboard: "I want to say to the world, to the heads of state and the governments, that these boats that left from Turkey and other countries were checked in a strict way under the framework of the rules of international navigation and were only loaded with humanitarian aid."

Turkey is a US ally, a member of NATO. Turkey’s cooperation is important to American’s plan for world hegemony. Erdogan must wonder about the morality of Israel’s American protector. According to a report in antiwar.com, the Turkish government declared that “future aid ships will be dispatched with a military escort so as to prevent future Israeli attacks.” Will the CIA assassinate Erdogan or pay the Turkish military to overthrow him? Murat Mercan, head of Turkey’s foreign relations committee, said that Israel’s claim that there were terrorists aboard the aid ships was Israel’s way of covering up its crime.

Mercan declared: "Any allegation that the members of this ship is attached to al-Qaeda is a big lie because there are Israeli civilians, Israeli authorities, Israeli parliamentarians on board the ship."

Israeli Government:

"Duh, ... all we did was attack them with helicopters, ships, and commandos! Why did they become violent?

Dumb-asses.

I think that if there were "terrorists" on board, they would have been better armed than having to resort to knives and broken glass bottles as weapons.

My heart sank upon reading the news. There's not much more that I can say right now. It's not the usual rage, just sadness right now.

no_blah,

That crossed my mind too. It's not like any terrorists wouldn't have used any weapons at their disposal. Especially since if they were terrorists smuggling weapons they would be as good as dead anyway.

The Israeli government's case is a monumental insult to the world's intelligence.

It's a rehash of the garbage cited in the Goldstone Report : They attacked us.
Ian Welsh pointed me to Pogue's Posts in a long winded title about Turkey being the driving force behind this blockade breaking.
Question of the Day : Turkish merchant seamen have been attacked by Israel. Wherefore NATO nations for one of their members ?
At the least, this is a threat to the rationale behind NATO.

"Boo hoo" is the infantile reaction of someone who cannot deal with empirical evidence. "Boo hoo" was the reaction of the Dreyfuss accusers, who asserted their right to nakedly lie in order to hurt Jews.

Long ago you realized that people would think you were smart if you just said really stupid, obnoxious liberal things. Long ago you forgot how to actually "analyze" a video of obvious physical events happening before you.

opit,

That's an interesting take on this. Although wasn't it supposed to be a Soviet attack only?

anonymous,

Your brain-dead contribution doesn't warrant a respectful response.

the argument that would derail your lame attempt to link me to the Dreyfuss Affair are IN THE FUCKING POST YOU'RE RESPONDING TO you stupid piece of shit.

The origins of the North American Treaty Organization are that of a ginned-up treaty to give coverage to sailors supplying England with military supplies under the terms of the 'Lend Lease' Act under FDR. Basically then, the nature of cargo is not relevant. And since the UN has already condemned the Gaza blockade for humanitarian reasons, it's hard to see what cover there is against Turkey claiming an infringement under Article V.

I had this story up at Care2 and one of the really with-it there added this to the comment thread

(From Global Research -- just received)

The Lone Ship of the Freedom Flotilla: The Rachel Corrie MV Continues to Sail Towards Gaza in Defiance of Israeli Threats

Following Israel's criminal raid in international waters on May 31st, the Rachel Corrie MV continues to sail towards the Gaza coastline in defiance of Israeli threats.

In an act of tremendous courage, the Rachel Corrie MV is determined to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza.

"At noon today, I received the following message from Christopher Chang and Ram Kardigasu, on behalf of the Malaysian and Irish peace activists, who are on board the Rachel Corrie:

RACHEL CORRIE: MV Rachel Corrie is now the sole ship on the international freedom flotilla moving towards Gaza.

The Malaysian and Irish peace and humanitarian activists aboard share their deepest grief and sense of lost with the loved ones of those killed and injured in the illegal action undertaken by Israel on Monday 31st May 2010 in the international waters of the Mediterranean.

In the names of our friends, we are more determined than ever to continue into Gaza with our humanitarian cargo and our support for the blockaded and suffering people of Gaza.

We expect Israel to respond to the international condemnation of its violence by not impeding by any means the safe passage of the Rachel Corrie.

We appeal to the international community and United Nations to continue to demand Israel our safe passage into Gaza."

Jointly issued by Malaysians and Irish on board the Rachel Corrie.

Sent on behalf of the humanitarian activists on aboard the Rachel Corrie - by PGPO land team (Ram Karthigasu and Christopher Chang)

You're such a complete shit-head wayne.

I'd take the time to refute your racist and infantile garbage if you were worth it, but you aren't.
