A big part of that was because harper hadn't yet been able to allow our financial sector to become as uncontrollably corrupt as the USA's. In the face of the present economic crisis, harper's content to stupidly indulge in a policy of austerity (albeit of lesser magnitude than the austerity of the Chretien-Martin years). The fruits of this brainless policy are beginning to show. Canada is running on empty.
But harper's a failure everywhere else. People die from tainted meat (again). The RCMP remains a disgrace. Our foreign reputation is in tatters (except with this idiot):

Now it's our municipalities' turn. harper announced $14 billion in infrastructure spending in fuck-head Flaherty's last budget. It seems, however, that ramming in everything via massive omnibus bills and then focusing on the Senate Scandal (which in harper's case means sucking his thumb in the dark while everything goes to hell, or galavanting around the world on the taxpayers' dime) has produced the result of nobody bothering to tell the municipalities how much money they're each getting and for what purposes.

Canada's cities say with the construction season approaching there is an "urgent" need for the federal government to reveal the details of a new infrastructure plan scheduled to come into effect April 1, despite the fact that money from the new fund has already been promised to Toronto for the extension of a subway line.
The Conservatives announced in last year's federal budget $14 billion over 10 years in new infrastructure money under a new Building Canada Fund but the details have yet to be made public.
With the 2014 budget just over a week away and still no details about the new fund, cities say they are at risk of losing thousands of jobs that come with the construction season.
In an interview with CBC News, Vancouver City Councillor Raymond Louie said not only is time of the essence, but it's important the federal government get the details rightNobody fucks it up like "conservative" morons. Some of us understand? Harper has been working on the TPP behind our backs as usual. There is another meeting of the 3 Amigo's coming up shortly. They have also have been, working on the NAU as well.
Big business has been pushing the NAU. Corporations only want to deal with one government, instead of three.
Corporations are, bottomless pits of greed. Every time they line up at the trough and squeal for more money? Harper gives them another $60 billion in tax reductions.
Corporations also want, a huge cheap labor pool. Harper is bringing over thousands of foreigners, for the corporations to exploit.
Harper is bringing thousands of Chinese for his, Northern BC mining plans. Harper's Omni-Bull-S-Bill permits China to sue Canada if anyone tries to block China's, huge intrusions into our country. Communist China can also, sue Canada in the International courts.
Then there is Harper's evil FIPA deal with China. That means China will be in Canada for a minimum of 31 years, to harvest Canada's resources.
Communist China also wants the timber and the 18 mines, on Vancouver Island. China has paid for, 800 hectares near Prince Rupert. That is where China is building their LNG plant. China of course, brings over their own dirty cheap labor.
Communist China polluted much of their farmland and 40% of their water. Dead pigs come floating down China's rivers. Their rivers stink so badly, they make people gag.
Therefore, Harper is permitting China, to buy up our Canadian farms. China will take our food crops, to feed the thousands coming over here, and their people back in China. Now, we can have dead pigs floating down Canada's rivers too.
The horrific mess China is making in the oil sands is mind boggling. The Chinese have not a clue of, how not to contaminate and pollute.
Vancouver's new name is, Chongcouver, Chinada. Communist China has already sued for, 200 mining jobs in BC.
300 Canadians were laid off in the oil patch, replaced by Harper's cheap foreign labor.
