Palestinians in Gaza brought their sufferings upon themselves when they had the temerity to elect Hamas to power in 2007. Gazans turned to Hamas (supported in its early days by Israel as a rival to the PLO/Fatah) after the Fatah Party's peace deal with Israel not only failed to improve things for them but actually made things worse.

Israel is a viciously racist, lawless, apartheid state.  And many Jewish Israelis (there is a large non-Jewish Arab minority ... mainly Muslim) actively support it.  Many of these Jewish Israeli civilians cooperate or compel the Israeli state to cooperate with them in building illegal "settlements" on Palestinian lands in the West Bank.  They also, on their own accord, abuse Palestinians on a regular basis.  

But, apparently, to even mention this puts you on the same level as Adolph Hitler.  Meanwhile, liberal shit-heads and right-wing Evangelical Christian "End-Times Prophecies" lunatics can rage about the cultural failings of the Palestinians all they want without being racist (in their view anyway).

One of the fundamentals of international law – at the heart of the Geneva Conventions – is a prohibition on collective punishment: that is, retaliating against the enemy’s civilian population, making them pay the price for the acts of their leaders and armies.

Very obviously, Gaza is about as flagrant a violation of this prohibition as can be found. Even in “quiet” times, its inhabitants – one million of them children – are denied the most basic freedoms, such as the right to movement; access to proper health care because medicines and equipment cannot be brought in; access to drinkable water; and the use of electricity for much of the day because Israel keeps bombing Gaza’s power station.

Israel has never made any bones of the fact that it is punishing the people of Gaza for being ruled by Hamas, which rejects Israel’s right to have dispossessed the Palestinians of their homeland in 1948 and imprisoned them in overcrowded ghettos like Gaza.

What Israel is doing to Gaza is the very definition of collective punishment. It is a war crime: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks of every year, for 16 years.

And yet no one in the so-called international community seems to have noticed.

Western officials have joined Israel in treating Hamas as simply a terrorist organisation, ignoring that it is also a government with people doing humdrum tasks like making sure bins are collected and schools kept open.

Or as Orna Ben-Naftali, a law faculty dean, told the Haaretz newspaper back in 2009: “A situation is created in which the majority of the adult men in Gaza and the majority of the buildings can be treated as legitimate targets. The law has actually been stood on its head.”

Back at that time, David Reisner, who had previously headed the unit, explained Israel’s philosophy to Haaretz: “What we are seeing now is a revision of international law. If you do something for long enough, the world will accept it.

“The whole of international law is now based on the notion that an act that is forbidden today becomes permissible if executed by enough countries.”

Israel’s meddling to change international law goes back many decades.

Referring to Israel’s attack on Iraq’s fledgling nuclear reactor in 1981, an act of war condemned by the U.N. Security Council, Reisner said: “The atmosphere was that Israel had committed a crime. Today everyone says it was preventive self-defence. International law progresses through violations.”

He added that his team had travelled to the U.S. four times in 2001 to persuade U.S. officials of Israel’s ever-more flexible interpretation of international law towards subjugating Palestinians.

“Had it not been for those four planes [journeys to the U.S.], I am not sure we would have been able to develop the thesis of the war against terrorism on the present scale,” he said.

Those redefinitions of the rules of war proved invaluable when the U.S. chose to invade and occupy Afghanistan and Iraq.

This isn't complicated.  If it is wrong for Hamas, or Palestinians in general, to kill Israeli civilians, then it is also wrong for the IDF or Israelis in general to kill Palestinians civilians.  And any claims anyone has to a super-subtle wisdom that can prove that that isn't so are bullshit.  Saying it's "complicated" is just a low-effort way to perpetuate this horror.

And the fact of the matter is that just as the senile Biden and the moron Blinken were surprised when the bulk of the world's people didn't fall in line with their murderous hypocrisy in NATO vs. Russia, they will be similarly discomfited when the rest of the world doesn't line-up behind Israel's racist crimes.

That the 87 year old Abbas didn't spit in Blinken's face but instead shook his hand is shameful.

If you're going to be a diaper-sniffing degenerate like Antony ("I went into the family business because I have no real abilities of my own") Blinken, and warble hypocritical stupidity about Russia occupying Ukrainian territory, then you should spit out that baby shit you're eating and get your own fucking troops out of Syria and order the Israelis to get all their racist "setters" out of Palestinian land.

We’re about to see the death and destruction get much, much worse in Gaza, and it’s already very, very bad. As of this writing the official death toll from Israeli airstrikes in Gaza is speeding past 1,900, a number which includes 614 children. The primary job of Israel apologists in the coming days will be producing and circulating narratives explaining why this self-evidently terrible thing is actually perfectly fine and acceptable.

It’s so incredibly obvious what we’re looking at here. The only thing putting a wobble on people’s perception is the immense amount of propaganda distortion the media is churning out on this issue, plus the fact that the demographics look a bit different from what history has conditioned people to watch out for. If there were two million Jewish people trapped by Christians in a giant concentration camp and placed under total siege, being told that half of them had 24 hours to relocate into the other half or be killed, nobody would have any confusion about what they were witnessing.

On the question of whether there are any potential Israeli actions that the White House would not tolerate, US national security adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters “I’m not here to draw red lines or issue warnings or give lectures to anybody.”

So be perfectly clear, the US government is fully behind this massacre, and is just as culpable for everything that happens in Gaza as the Israeli government. These abuses are being perpetrated using US weapons, US funding and US consent. Washington could end this mass atrocity with a word, and instead they’re fully aligning themselves behind it. Israel’s crimes in Gaza are not meaningfully separate from the crimes of the US war machine.

There’s a clip of George W Bush going around from a California event on Tuesday in which, for some bizarre, unfathomable reason, the former president was asked to provide his opinion on what Israel should do in response to the Hamas attack on October 7.

Bush said pretty much what you’d expect him to say: “You’re dealing with cold-blooded killers,” “negotiating with killers is not an option,” “one side is guilty.” The same book he’s been reciting from since September 11, 2001. What I find much more interesting is, why is anyone asking the absolute worst person you could possibly ask about what should be done in response to such an attack?

I mean, Bush is literally the very last person in the entire world who anyone should be asking what to do in this situation. Literally dead last; there are eight billion people walking this earth right now who are infinitely more qualified to answer such questions than George W Bush. The agendas Bush set out to advance in the wake of 9/11 plunged the middle east into violence and chaos which wound up killing millions and displacing tens of millions, all supposedly in response to an attack which killed three thousand. What is this man doing holding a microphone and publicly opining on what Israel should do in response to the Hamas attack?

Again; none of this is "complicated" and requiring advanced degrees or groundless claims to superior insight.  If you support Israel's apartheid state and its repeated slaughtering of Palestinian men, women and children, whether they're protesting peacefully or resisting with violence or just trying to live their lives, then you're a hypocrite and a racist with no right to criticize others.  You have forfeited your right to be taken seriously on this topic.

It's the same with the fuck-faces who support the United States's insane policy of provoking Russia with armed nazis in Ukraine.  If you ignore that the USA has illegally attacked and sanctioned numerous countries in recent decades; if you ignore that they have blood up to their shoulders; if you ignore that they support Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine and if you ignore their own illegal occupations of Iraq and Syria; if you ignore their enthusiastic support for Saudi Arabia's genocide in Yemen ... well, I suppose you're just a useless idiot then.

Yes, yes.  Vladimir Putin is a BAD MAN.  A terrible, horrible, no-goodnik of a man.  Fine?  He said to the USA: "I'm not like the Taliban in Afghanistan, or Saddam Hussein in Iraq, or Muammar Gaddafi in Libya, or Bashar al-Assad in Syria.  If you try to surround me with hostile armies and give them weapons I will eventually blow the fuck out of them."  Unfortunately he was talking to the arrogant shit-for-brains team of Joe Biden and Antony Blinken.  These imbeciles (and almost the entire USA's political class) shriek and piss their pants about a Chinese airbase in Cuba or a Chinese security treaty with the Solomon Islands, but they arrogantly expected Russia to submit to Ukraine in NATO.  Or, just as likely, they thought they could provoke Russia into a ruinous war that would forever end Russia's potential to stymie the USA's ability to rape the entire world, and if tens of thousands of Ukrainians (Or what the fuck - hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians! - whose counting after all?) get killed, well, so be it.  Then they can go after an isolated China.

To their shock and dismay, the rest of the world didn't go along with their hypocritical preening about defending Ukraine's oligarchi-nazi "democracy" against Russia's "unprovoked" agression.  Only brain-dead, brainwashed North Americans seem to have fallen for this shit in huge numbers.  There are massive protests against this evil stupidity in Europe.  Perhaps Japan and Australia have the same proportion of deluded ignoramuses.  I can't say.  But most of the rest of the world see this sickening hypocrisy for what it is.

The same thing is going to happen with the Israelis' sickening self-pitying wailing about their innocent civilians when they've spent DECADES murdering innocent Palestinian civilians.  The USA and its lick-spittle allies are HATED by most of the world.  And a culture that pukes up garbage like Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, etc. ad nauseum, is a culture that is truly debased.

But North Americans have been stewing in this puke for so long that they ignore the Ukrainian nazis parading in front of the news cameras and Canada's Parliament of debased, embarrasingly ignorant, childish, deluded corrupt stupid MP's cheered a former Waffen SS soldier!  This wasn't an asteroid from out of nowhere.  That international disgrace to Canada is the product of decades of elite unaccounability for corruption and hypocrisy and barely-disguised racist evil.

Canada is a settler country.  But our indigenous population constitutes a much smaller percentage of the population than do the Palestinians to the Israelis.  And we've shunted almost all of them out to the remote wilderness.  (When they come into the cities we condemn them to racist abuse and contempt.)  And if we find we need some of the land they're on for our own purposes, well, then, fuck their sovereignty and fuck their human rights.  We have RCMP snipers point rifles with live ammunition at their peaceful attempts to block our invasions.

Despite the much lower ability of the First Nations to challenge the Canadian state and the settler project when compared to the Palestinians in Israel, we Canadians are still prone to hysterical, sputtering, racist rage when they do attempt to resist us.  Witness the responses to the resistance at Ipperwash and Caledonia.  Holy shit!  Even Attawapiskat's Chief Theresa Spence began a HUNGER STRIKE to protest federal inaction on the completely shameful condition of the housing in her community some I remember the late, unlamented Christie Belchforth venting that it was "terrorism"!

This racism infects our entire society.  Especially those dullards who rise to the top of our corrupt society's political system.

The brazen hypocrisy and stupidity and racism of the past few years only adds to my opinion that as a species we're clearly incapable of rising to the challenge of the self-inflicted castatrophes (such as global heating) that are coming.  We are too stupid and debased to survive.
