The Pre-Genocide of the Palestinians Era and the Post-Genocide of the Palestinians Era

 

Canada has always been one of the apartheid state of Israel's biggest supporters.  Canada is, itself, a colonial project.  A country built upon stolen lands.  It has been a delusional lackey to the imperialists of Britain and the United States.  Under stephen harper I saw that, collectively, Canadians are unconcerned about complicity in torture.  Most of us are completely indifferent to whether there's any sort of democratic elements in our political system.  There's no push for greater democracy and we shrugged in indifference and apathy when the vestiges of democratic oversight were spat upon by the harper regime.

There is a certain cultural hegemony that permits the Liberals and the Conservatives to waste $10 billion in Afghanistan to impose a rapist kleptocracy over those people.  That project failed.  Even if it had succeeded it would have covered us in ignominy.  But it failed and nobody can now pretend that it was a waste of blood and treasure.  But nobody talks about that colossal waste.  Nor do we talk about the $1 billion spent by harper during the G-7/G-20 on "security" and which produced a riot on one day and then the mass-arrests of unrelated persons the next day.  Insanity.  We accept homeless cities and annual massive wild-fires as "the new normal."

So, why do I find it surprising that when it comes to being on the right side of history or the wrong side of history on the subject of the Israeli's nazi-level barbarism against the Palestinians, that Canada has chosen the wrong side?  It's par for the course of this country and its culture.  Still, ... I thought that when it came to the deliberate destruction of an entire people, ... the destruction of hospitals, the murdering of doctors and nurses, the deliberate murder of children by snipers, the use of starvation as a weapon, ... I thought we'd be different.

Even if Canada's complete moral depravity isn't shocking in hindsight, it remains the case that this depravity is now out in the open.  Since this genocide began, Canadian society has revealed its true nature and things can never be the same again.  Will we tolerate this or will there be a reckoning?  I'm of the opinion that we will tolerate it.  Some of us will grumble and complain.  But the majority of us empty-headed, narcissistic, ignorant, selfish cretins will go along as normal.  And the disgusting and the depraved will actually celebrate whatever their misshapen minds have decided that Israel's naziism represents.
