So, Putin met with Trump. Absolutely no details as to what was discussed. Perhaps Putin managed to convince Trump of the irrefutable reality that Ukraine has lost hundreds of thousands of men, that it needs weapons that the USA and the rest of NATO cannot produce in sufficient quantities, that Russia's losses are manageable and its industrial abilities increasing, and, therefore, that Russia can continue to slowly grind Ukraine's military until it evaporates.
Trump is an idiot, but he can't be totally oblivious to facts. He probably knows how to appraise a property. I suspect he was capable of understanding all of this if the Russians broke it down into small enough chunks for him.
But I was curious as to how the Proudly Canadian CBC was portraying all of this. It was pathetic. It was brazen propaganda. The only professionalism that it showed was an ability to stay on message. A message that has been maintained for over a decade, regardless of any facts that might complicate things. Apparently Putin is a pariah. Albeit only in "The West." He's been "isolated" and his puppet Donald Trump has given him a victory for reasons known only to Trump, Putin and Russian Intelligence.
The CBC had to constantly mention that Trump's problems are only with "The West" which means a USA that barfs-up leadership candidates like Donald Trump and Joe Biden, and it's poddles in NATO, plus one or two others like Japan and Australia. That "The West" is the arbiter of international laws, and morals and diplomatic isolation is a given. Even though it is supporting a genocide in Palestine. Even though the rest of the world despises the imperialist USA and the past imperialist powers in "The West."
The summit today left more questions than answers, but the event itself was a win for Putin.
The two presidents maintained a friendly demeanour, from their meeting on the tarmac to their brief closing press conference, which will be seen as a big victory for the Russian leader. Putin’s red-carpet welcome sends a signal to Russians that he has gained some legitimacy in the West after a long period of isolation.
...
Olga Koshelenko is a Ukrainian journalist at a newsroom called Television News Service. She told us she was surprised that the summit had ended with no deal, despite lots of pomp.
"It seems like today is Putin's birthday and Christmas and Victory Day and everything. It is a big day for Putin,” she said. “Because he's out of international isolation and he got tons of attention and appreciation and love from Trump."
...
In all, the big takeaway from this meeting was the spectacle
...
and that appears to be just what Putin wanted.
The choreographed welcome with a military flyover, the red carpet, handshakes and smiles were a sharp contrast to the pariah-like isolation from the West that Putin has been subject to since his full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. It will be interesting to see how Europe (and Ukraine) reacts.
This steady stream of shit is forever playing in the background, twisting your subconscious thinking and turning you into a shit-head who wants more Ukrainians to die fighting because there aren't THAT MANY nazis in its government and military.

Putin is a wanted man, indicted like Netanyahu for war crimes by the ICC, that "Western" arbiter of justice to which the US doesn't belong. So it seems the CBC got things right for a change. Trump inviting him to the US for the first time in a decade is a feather in Putin's cap.
But why rely on Canadian propaganda, when you can confirm it on Russian news agency TASS?
"Particularly noteworthy is the friendly tone of the meeting, the warm and respectful interactions between the two leaders, and the high honors accorded to Putin. On one hand, Trump’s courtesy may reflect his desire to foster a positive environment for negotiations and potential agreements. On the other, the mutual sympathy and respect displayed by Putin and Trump are significant for the development of Russian-American cooperation." So no surprise there, Trump loves to be in the presence of dictators, be they Xi, Kim or Putin.
As for your claim that Russia can slowly grind Ukraine's military until it evaporates, it's been grinding for 3 years and it hasn't evaporated yet. Russia is the third largest arms exporter, behind the US and France, and ahead of China and Germany. Even if Trump stops arms deliveries to Ukraine, denying US arms makers billions in profits, I'd love to hear your reason for believing that EU countries are less capable than Russia. Being able to grind another country's military into the dust is in any case no guarantee of victory, as the Soviets, as well as the US and its allies, found out in Afghanistan.
I prefer my news coverage from "Crooks and Liars" with a link to Chris Schecter and Shuster implying that Tump was preparing to give Putin a "blow job"
zoombats,
I haven't visited Crooks & Liars for years. It was just another Democratic Party Cult-site.
I pretty much barfed after the listening to the atlantic council stooge the cbc busted out...and from there on in every other commentator was a cookie cutter version of that douche bag.
Trevorus,
Thanks for listening to that so I didn't have to!
What's really depressing is that I think these CBC hacks (who are better than our private/corporate media) mostly believe the drivel they spew.
