For whatever reason, Trump wants to meet Putin in Alaska. For whatever reason, Putin has agreed to this. (The link shows the high-level of topics they intend to discuss. Whether anything can be accomplished with this President, or any US-American government for that matter, is a different story.)
The hard fact of the matter is that Russia is advancing all along a very long front. Ukraine is running out of men to dragoon into the armed forces. The USA cannot match Russia's military-industrial output. Not now, and not for a few years for some weapons, and not for many years, for others.
The war is lost. Europe's delusional, incompetent leadership is vowing to purchase US weapons to give to Ukraine. But, obviously, this plan bumps up against the USA's industrial limitations. The war is lost.
But brainwashed "progressives" (who have had YEARS to understand the bases of this conflict and the realities of the war,no thanks to the mainstream media or the incoherent postings at Jeffrey St Clair's "CounterPunch") are still lost in a dreamworld wherein Ukraine has lost perhaps 150,000 men and the Russians 2,000,000. [But we're still supposed to fear the Russian hordes sweeping across the rest of Europe?!?]
For them, any concessions [to reality] that Trump makes in Alaska will only reinforce their other nitwit delusion (planted by the psychotic Hillary Clinton) that he is Putin's debased anus-slave.

Ukraine's sovereignty isn't Donnie's to give away. But I see Lavrov showed up in a CCCP t-shirt, so I guess the reach-around Diaper Don was hoping for is off the table. Prolapse it is.
Donnie couldn't possibly by Putin's gimp slave. Russia, Russia, Russia is all a hoax.
Nikolay Patrushev, a former director of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) and one of Putin’s closest allies, spoke to the Russian state-run business outlet Kommersant about Trump’s recent election victory. He indicated that Trump’s political successes were, at least in part, achieved with help from “certain forces” to whom he is now indebted. “To achieve success in the election, Donald Trump relied on certain forces to which he has corresponding obligations,” Patrushev said. “As a responsible person, he will be obliged to fulfill them.”
Of course, there was also the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee report on Russian interference in the 2016 United States presidential election. The committee, chaired by current Secretary of State Marco Rubio, found that the Russian government had engaged in an "extensive campaign" to sabotage the election in favor of Donald Trump, which included assistance from some of Trump's own advisers - notably Paul Manafort, who went to jail. But, of course, it was all a big hoax put out by the evil Hillary. Good grief, man, you sound like a Trumper.
Ukraine's sovereignty was lost to NATO. More specifically, the USA, which leads NATO. The EU thought they'd screw Ukraine over, but then Yanukovych baulked, Putin offered Ukraine a better deal, and then the USA helpfully installed a pro-USA, NAZI-defended traitor government that launched a doomed war, which they persisted with, despite Putin giving them several off-ramps, and which has resulted in the loss of AT LEAST half-a-million Ukrainian men.
I have no idea what you mean to convey by Lavrov's CCP t-shirt and Trump not getting a reach-around.
Cap,
Well, if Nikolay Patrushev (whom I'd never heard of before) says something, then it MUST be true!
There's NO WAY he's trolling! Or anything else!
Look at all the EVIDENCE behind what he is saying!
A BI-PARTISAN Senate Intelligence Report! Signed by both the liar Adam Schiff and the liar/hypocrite/opportunist Marco Rubio!!!!
"But, of course, it was all a big hoax put out by the evil Hillary. Good grief, man, you sound like a Trumper."
Cap, ... you're a smart guy. But you sound like a member of the Democratic Party cult. Hillary IS evil. (And stupid.) (And a fucking loser.)
Carter Page was NOT a Russian agent.
Wikileaks did NOT share info with the Trump campaign.
Paul Manafort NEVER met with Assange at the Ecuadorian embassy in London.
The Steele Dossier was a mess of fabrications.
There is so much PROVEN shit to "Russiagate" that if you want to have a conversation with me about it [which I would welcome BTW] you're going to have to do better than this.
And, at the end of the day, my point still stands. NATO and Ukraine have lost this war. Ukraine is building new mega-cemeteries to house its dead. Russia isn't. Ukraine has been destroyed. Russia has been bruised. NATO will soon be totally humiliated.
BUT: If you want to have the last word, just answer this one question: If Russia has lost from one-million to two-million men in Ukraine, why are we supposed to fear a Russian invasion of the rest of Europe?
I mean, since when has the US Senate EVER been wrong when it comes to Russia????
What did Paul Manafort go to jail for?
I'll tell you: Banking and Tax Fraud. Mueller (who himself lied to Congress) accused him of sharing polling data with a "pro-Russian Ukrainian politician" but that was Manafort telling that guy to pay him his fees becuase he was friends with the man who would soon be president. The whole thing about the "polling data" has been tortured into being significant when it was anything but.
