A Right-Wing Revolution in Europe?

So, the Biden administration's insane war on Russia has produced an energy crisis and increased inflation in Europe.  People in the UK are freezing to death I've heard.  And most of Europe's ruling political parties, from the centre-right to the centre-left are cravenly submitting to cooperating in their continent's downfall. (They'd been orchestrating the immiseration of the European populations in a big way since the 2008 financial crisis already.)

The only politicians voicing objections to this US-led insanity and hypocrisy have been on the far-left and the far-right.  And the only politicians voicing objections who have any power are far-rightists like Hungary's  Viktor Orban.  Russia's Vladimir Putin is a right-wing authoritarian himself and he has been subsidizing far-right parties and individuals in Europe for years, including outright fascists.  Putin's stated goal of "de-nazification" of Ukraine isn't complete bullshit however.  Ukrainian fascists ("Banderites") are anti-Russian fascists.  Their organization has historical links to Nazi Germany.  For that reason Putin is opposed to them.

Of course, we mustn't then forget that it is the US government that is supporting and enabling the Ukrainian fascists.  In the same way that they support violent Islamic extremists in Syria and Libya (and Iraq and Afghanistan and elsewhere) despite having claimed that "Islamism" is the great threat of our time.  The USA needs psychopathic morons to work their will because what they want tends to bring ruin to the lands in question.  So it's Jihaadist nutbars in the Middle East and nazi stooges in Ukraine.

But back to Europe.  The people of Europe have been protesting this shit.  It isn't reported here because our news media is now 100% propaganda and censorship and hypocrisy and obfuscation and it is so blatant and brazen.  But the Europeans are angry.  And if it turns out that the only groups willing and able to tear power away from the neo-liberal US lapdogs and the soulless, insane neo-liberal bureaucrats in Brussells are the far-right, then this whole selfish US policy of maintaining hegemony, de-industrializing Europe, and subsidizing both the military-industrial complex and the fracking industry could well back-fire and lead to a pro-Putin, pro-Russian, far-right Europe.

It is possible that the American policymakers are so hypnotized by the past that, still thinking of Russia as kind-of-the-same-as-Soviets, it's hard for them to wrap their minds around the idea that a fascist Europe would be pro-Russia this time. Because so far it certainly seems as if US policy in Europe involves the same old, same old: Suppress the left, wink at the fascist right and maybe quietly help them some. In essence, nothing much has changed in their minds since the days of Operation Gladio.

PLG,

In my more charitable moments I assign enough intelligence to the US foreign policy elite for them to recognize Russia as a different country than the USSR and that, for them, the struggle is not therefore, ideological, but about power. Specifically, the power of Russia [and China] to act independently.

Then I remember this is Biden, Blinken, Hillary Clinton, and all the other shit-heads and I'm not so sure. So it's probably both.

Reading Yanis Varoufakis on the willful blindness of the EU elites to see the dangers of the rising fascism (rising because of the EU elite's own policies) I wonder if history will repeat itself.

So basically everyone in power is an idiot, shithead etc.

But you aren’t?

And what have done with your life again that makes you so much smarter than everyone else?

You know, it would help if you'd read the fucking post and respond to the points made in it.

Do you agree that the cutting-off of Russian energy to Europe has caused inflation? Yes or no? If yes, do you think this was a good idea? Why? Do you agree that disruptions to Russian and Ukrainian food and fertilizers has increased food prices? Yes or no? If yes, do you think this was a good thing? Why or why not?

Do you think that people should be freezing to death in the UK because they can't pay their heating bills? Yes or no?

Do you agree or disagree with the contention that both Biden and Putin are supporting fascists in Europe? If you agree that they are, do you think this is a good thing?

Again, you're welcome to engage with me and show me specifically where I'm wrong. Or you can choose to make puerile insinuations because, at the end of the day, that's all you're capable of.

If you're happy exposing yourself as a cowardly mediocrity, ... well, I suppose what you just posted here has probably made you very happy indeed.

Anonymous shows a basic misunderstanding of the whole nature of society and politics. You can be totally right and totally awesome and it really doesn't help anything--what's needed is lots of people not only all agreeing about some kind of general direction, but with some way to make decisions together to take action. But they can't get the second thing unless they have the first thing; ideally not only should a bunch of people think X, they need to be aware that other people out there are in the same boat and agree with them.

Which in turn means, if you have a problem with how things are going, you have to talk about it. Both to persuade people to agree, and to let people who already agree know that their opinion exists out there. Which is what Thwap is doing, given the relatively small pulpit available.

So. Thwap is doing what needs to be done. What are you doing, you little dweeb? Trying and failing to shit on your betters, it would seem.
